AMBOYNA BURL This writing instrument is constructed using wood from the tree Pterocarpus indicus and is commonly called Narra. The burl form of this wood is known as Amboyna. This tree is native to southeastern Asia and its harvesting almost always employs the use of elephants for transport. Having been highly prized as an inlay wood for fine furniture for many years it has often been considered both the most rare and beautiful burl in the world. |
